The Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IPIS) and the Valdai Discussion Club held joint meetings on July 19 and 20, 2023.

On the first day of the meeting, the latest developments in the South Caucasus, the consequences of the second Karabakh war, as well as the origins and consequences of the war in Ukraine were reviewed and evaluated at various levels.

In the meeting of the second day, the latest developments in the bilateral relations between Iran and Russia, the latest status of the transportation corridors, the challenges and opportunities of the economic relations between Iran and Russia and the approaches to improve it were discussed.

In these meetings, while exchanging views, the parties emphasized on the development and expansion of cooperation between Iran and Russia in view of the recent changes in the international system.

Also, the Valdai’s delegation met separately with Dr. Sheykholeslami, the head of the Political Studies Institute, and discussed ways to increase cooperation between the two sides.
