The first International Conference on Human Rights in the Eastern Approach was held on April 27, with the joint cooperation of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and Baqir al-Ulum University, at the Al-Zahra Conference Hall located within the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization. More than forty foreign figures, along with a group of thinkers and high-ranking officials from the country, attended this conference. Foreign guests from Oman, South Africa, Lebanon, Tunisia, China, India, Serbia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Malaysia, Palestine, South Korea, Uganda, Nigeria, Indonesia, Kenya, Thailand, Armenia, Iraq, and Kazakhstan were present at this event.
The speakers at this session, who delivered their speeches in order, were: Dr. Rabbani, esteemed Director General of Scientific and Academic Cooperation; Hojat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Imani Pour, esteemed Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization; the Head of the Legal Committee of the Parliament of Armenia; Hojat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Dr. Rafiei Alavi, esteemed Head of Baqir al-Ulum University in Qom; the Head of the Human Rights Committee of the Sultanate of Oman; a Member of Parliament and Head of the Muslim Bloc of Uganda; Dr. Esmaeili, esteemed Deputy for Strategy of the Islamic Consultative Assembly; and Dr. Rahimi, esteemed Minister of Justice.
The main objective of holding this conference was stated as providing a platform for scientific discourse with the aim of achieving the principles and rules of "Human Rights in the Cultural Eastern Approach." It was emphasized that this event is the first step on a strategic path that is hoped, by presenting deep arguments based on the rich civilizational capacities of the East, will gradually lead to the establishment of the principles of this approach in international custom. The necessity of pursuing this important matter is more apparent than ever, given the recent failures of the Western human rights discourse, especially concerning the developments in Gaza. In this regard, reference was made to the history of Eastern civilizations and the roots of human rights in these cultures, including the Cyrus Cylinder, as well as the sublime concepts of human rights in Quranic teachings (such as verse 32 of Surah Al-Ma'idah, which emphasizes the high value of human life and considers disregarding it tantamount to warring against God).
Ms. Masoumeh Seif Afje'i, Head of the Human Rights and Women's Studies Group at the Institute for Political and International Studies, participated in the aforementioned conference.
