International Conference on Iran-ASEAN Cooperation Held in Tehran

An international conference titled Examining the Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and ASEAN under Malaysias Chairmanship in 2025 was held on Sunday December 29 2024 at the Center for Political and International Studies (CPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An international conference titled "Examining the Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and ASEAN under Malaysia's Chairmanship in 2025" was held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Center for Political and International Studies (CPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was attended by ambassadors from ASEAN member states, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, and Cambodia, as well as representatives from South Korea and Belarus.

The conference was divided into three specialized panels:

  • Political-Security Panel: Focused on strengthening regional stability.
  • Economic, Trade, and Investment Panel: Emphasized expanding trade routes and utilizing the strategic position of Iran and ASEAN for economic cooperation.
  • Social-Cultural Panel: Highlighted cultural diversity and strengthening social cooperation.

The main objective of the conference was to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Iran and ASEAN countries and to create a mutually beneficial partnership based on shared interests and concerns.

On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition of historical documents related to Iran-ASEAN interactions was also opened and will remain on display for one week.
