Conference of "Iran and BRICS; Perspectives for partnership and cooperation" with the presence of officials and ambassadors of five BRICS member countries, including India, China, Brazil, Russia and South Africa, along with ambassadors and diplomats of foreign embassies residing in Tehran, as well as officials, managers and experts from government and private institutions, as well as professors and students of the country's universities was held on August 08, 2023 at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Conference of "Iran and BRICS; Perspectives for partnership and cooperation" with the presence of officials and ambassadors of five BRICS member countries, including India, China, Brazil, Russia and South Africa, along with ambassadors and diplomats of foreign embassies residing in Tehran, as well as officials, managers and experts from government and private institutions, as well as professors and students of the country's universities was held on August 08, 2023 at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting started with the speech of the representative of South Africa as the periodical chairman of BRICS and the deputy of economic diplomacy of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then three specialized meetings were held.

In the first meeting entitled "BRICS and its role in an emerging multipolar world", the representatives of BRICS member countries discussed the role of this powerful economic bloc in the international system while introducing BRICS and its achievements.

In the second panel entitled "Multilateralist Iran", some Iranian managers and experts presented the performance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in some multilateral structures in fields such as energy, transition, technology and innovation.

In the third meeting under the title of Iran and BRICS; the present and future potentials of Iran and the BRICS member countries in the potential fields of cooperation in relation to the current situation of the mentioned group and its future capacities and plans, the multilateral and international activities of Iran and the fields of cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the group of BRICS member countries in the areas of transportation and transit, energy, finance and investment, new technologies, etc. were consulted and exchanged opinions.

Further, in the closing session, Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Amir Abdollahian said: Iran and China's cooperation to connect China to the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and the Indian Ocean also practically connects China and India as the two founders of BRICS and through combined transportation can link China to South Africa and even Brazil.

He said: "In the field of energy and ensuring its stable security, Iran is an absolute added value for BRICS members and its future members. The presence of Iran and countries with energy resources such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the UAE alongside BRICS and participation in the energy sector will further strengthen the stance of this economic bloc."

In the end, the foreign minister said: The meeting of BRICS Plus leaders on August 24 in Johannesburg is a great opportunity for BRICS leaders and BRICS friends to exchange views on a better future for BRICS and the global south.
