Among the topics touched upon at the meeting were: latest developments in Europe, the middle east and the Persian gulf, transatlantic relations, the JCPOA, and the US elections impacts on the international system. Part of the webinar was allocated to questions and answers which included the consequences of the US elections results in the middle east region, latest developments in the EU, the role of Non-regional powers in destabilizing the middle east region and escalating its tensions, the US elections results impacts on the international order as well as on the JCPOA, and the EU policy alignment concerning the transatlantic relations, regarding the latest developments.

The points emphasized at the meeting were: Necessity for cooperation, dialogue, and strengthening multilaterism  for overcoming all regional and international problems, because of the political and geopolitical devolpments as well as certain threats and concerns have made the need for cooperation and participation of the countries all the more urgent for changing the status quo and creating a common understanding.

It was also emphasized that the Trump administration’s policies and the US unilaterism have weakened multilaterism and created  a schism in the transatlantic relations. The topic of the JCPOA agreement and the duties of the European states in preserving and fulfilling their commitments stipulated in the agreement and the US elections impacts on the future of the JCPOA were also touched upon and it was stated that , by its illegal exit from the JCPOA, the US created tension in the region and weakened the transatlantic relations. The JCPOA brought stability and security to the region and was a successful model for non-proliferation ad arms control. In the view of the Norwegian researchers , there can be hope in reviving the JCPOA after Biden takes office and Europe is hopeful that the new US administration’s approach will strengthen multilaterism and the transatlantic relations on the international arena.

Also the Iranian attendees condemned the terrorist act of the Iranian scientist’s assassination, Dr.Fakhrizadeh, as well as some countries double standards and criticized the silence of certain sates in view of such a crime.
